How To Keep Your Dry Skin Radiant and Pure

A Step-by-step Skincare Routine To Keep Dry Skin Well Hydrated And Smooth

I have been working at 100% PURE® for three awesome years! It’s funny because I actually discovered the company while I was in school studying Environmental Studies, and I wanted an eco-friendly, clean skin care and makeup regimen. I found out that there was a store at Santana Row and I went in and fell in love. The manager of the store at the time convinced me that I should apply to work there. I was hesitant because I had been working at Starbucks for 5 years, but I applied anyway. Guess what? I didn’t get hired! Anyway, I told myself I was going to apply for the HQ office once I graduated, and so I did and now here I am, Brand Ambassador Manager!

My Skin Type:

My skin is dry, sensitive and often flakey. I have to exfoliate and make sure my skin is hydrated and moisturized, especially if I want a flawless makeup application. My skin can be sensitive to the point where certain products will give me a random red itchy hive on my face (super cute). I also have redness in my cheeks which may or may not be rosacea, as well as keratosis pilaris (keratin build up in my pores that causes bumps). I HATE the bumps and I love having smooth, soft skin, so I cater my skincare routine to that. I also take preventative measures for the signs of aging.

My Morning Routine:

For some, winter is the worst time of year for dry and sensitive skin, but for me, it’s something I need to control year round. I’ve tested a lot of different products and combination products to see what works best. This might not be the perfect routine for you, but it is a great guideline to get you started on controlling your sensitive and dry skin.

I start out splashing my face with water and then I apply cleanser to my Facial Cleansing Brush which I love because it is one of the most densely packed bristled facial brushes that I have ever seen, while also being incredibly soft. It’s cruelty-free, of course, with taklon fibers for the bristles.

Organic Matcha Anti-Aging: Antioxidant Cleansing Foam: This is the cleanser I use in the morning. I’m almost 30 and I like to take preventative measures when it comes to my skin because it is better to start the anti-aging regimen early instead of too late! This product contains organic green tea and matcha green tea. Both are packed full of antioxidants which neutralize free radicals that speed up the signs of aging and cause skin damage. These ingredients can also help to reduce inflammation, improve elasticity and purify the skin.

Organic Cucumber Juice: Emulsion Tonique: This is the next step in my routine. This product is refreshing with its amazing scent of cucumber, which I think is kind of a pick me up in the morning. Since my skin is on the dry side, I use this Tonique because it is intensely hydrating, helps balance my pH and is made with cucumber hydrosol, which makes my skin feel so incredibly soft. It has hyaluronic acid (sourced from a japanese starchy root) that helps to bring hydration to thirsty skin cells. I like to apply my Tonique directly to my hands and pat it onto my face. Then if there is excess, I use a cotton pad to wipe it away.

Organic Matcha Anti-Aging: Shielding Serum: Once I have allowed the Tonique to work its magic on my face, I use the Organic Matcha Anti-Aging Shielding Serum. As I mentioned before, I like to be preventative when it comes to my skin and aging so I feel it is never too early to start! This serum is light and does not leave that oily feeling that many serums can leave behind. Serum is so important because it penetrates deeper than moisturizer alone and helps to assist your moisturizer by pulling it deeper into the skin. This serum contains CoQ10 which helps boost collagen and elastin, our good friend hyaluronic acid which hydrates and plumps, and our other bestie that I was previously talking about--green tea!

Organic Cucumber Juice: Hydrating Moisturizer: I use the Organic Cucumber Juice Hydrating moisturizer in the mornings because it helps to hydrate my dry skin and prep it for a flawless makeup application. It prevents flakes from forming so my makeup goes on smoothly.

Coffee Bean Eye Cream

Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream: This eye cream was the first product I ever tried from 100% PURE®, and boy did I need it. Having to wake up at 3:00 a.m. to open a coffee shop definitely gave me dark circles and puffiness. Anytime I didn’t use my eye cream, I’d get the “You look tired” comment from customers. (“Gee thanks, guys!”) The Coffee Bean Eye Cream saved me. The caffeine in this product is sourced from green coffee bean extract. Green coffee beans have the most caffeine of all stages of coffee beans. Fun fact: often times people think that the darker the roast the stronger the coffee, but actually the more cooked the coffee is, the more caffeine is “cooked” off.

When applied to the skin, green coffee extract helps to increase circulation, which gets rid of the dark circles and the pooling of blood under the eyes. It also helps the fluid retention in the skin circulate so the puffiness goes away. The antioxidants from the coffee bean extract also helps to reduce wrinkles.

My Night Time Routine:

I like to pack in a lot of moisturizing products at night, because I feel like my skin absorbs it all throughout the night and when I wake up my face is supple and smooth.

Organic Cucumber Juice: Cleansing Foam: I cleanse with this at night because the cucumber hydrosol brings hydration to my skin cells. Remember: hydration bring water in the skin and moisturizers bring oils to the skin. So later when I apply other products, they lock that hydration in. The cucumber also helps to calm some of the redness I naturally have in my skin. I love the way it smells. Clean and refreshing.

Organic Cucumber Juice: Emulsion Tonique: I use this Tonique for the same reasons I use it in the morning.

Vitamin C Serum

Vitamin C Serum: For my PM serum, I like to use this one because it boosts collagen production and cell turnover. This helps to slough off some of the dead skin cells; and for me it’s perfect for my flakes and bumps.

Organic High Potency Reversal: Repair Eye Cream: This is what I use at night because it aggressively fights the signs of aging (and I laugh so much that often I worry about the potential for wrinkles around my eyes). It contains CoQ10 which helps create collagen and elastin, since the natural occurrence of CoQ10 declines as you get older.

Multi-Vitamin Antioxidant Ultra Riche PM Treatment

Multi-Vitamin + Antioxidants Ultra Riche PM Treatment: This night cream is so thick and luxurious and using it is like taking a multivitamin supplement just for your face! It contains:

Vitamin E - protects skin from free radicals and moisturizes skin, repairs and improves the appearance of damaged skin
Vitamin A - increases cell turnover, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helps smooth skin
Vitamin B3 - helps with skin softness, evenness, brightness
Vitamin B5 - as a humectant, it locks in moisture and helps plump skin while healing, soothing and helping with elasticity
Vitamin C - helps brighten skin, helps with collagen production
Vitamin D - strengthens/protects skin and locks in moisture
Vitamin K - helps with dark circles and spider veins

2-3 Times a Week:

Matcha Scrub

Organic Matcha Anti-Aging: Antioxidant Smoothing Scrub: I usually like to do this one in the shower. It is my favorite scrub out of all the ones we have ever had! It has both jojoba beads and jojoba meal, which I feel effectively exfoliates the bumps and flakes off of my face. As I mentioned, I have a little bit of keratosis pilaris on my face, which is excess keratin in the pores, and it creates little bumps. This scrub totally helps with this without being too abrasive.

Intensive Nourish Moisture Balm: If I was only allowed to have one 100% PURE® product for the rest of my life this would be it. I use it a few times a week after I have applied my usual night time skincare routine. I also use it pretty much every night as a lip balm. I use it on any severely dry patches on my skin, on my cuticles, under my nose during cold season, and even on my feet with socks overnight to make my feet softer.

Green Tea Mask

Green Tea Water Bomb Mask: After a rough or particularly exhausting day, it is so nice to use one of these babies. I like to store them in the fridge to keep them extra cool, but they feel cool when you open the package at room temperature as well. The Mask sits in a little tray and you slide it out of the outer packaging. There is some extra hydrosol and aloe juice in the tray that I like to rub on my hands and arms to give them some of the benefits, too! This mask is amazing because it is made with vegetable cellulose. It almost has a jelly feel, and while it sits on your skin, the material gets thinner while your skin soaks up the good stuff. It contains green tea that fights free radicals and reduces inflammation, calming rose to soothe the skin and hyaluronic acid to bring hydration to skin cells.

That pretty much sums up my skin care routine, hopefully this helps some of you out there who may suffer from some of the same skin issues that I do, and are intrigued by these products. It s so great to use products, that I know are good for me, and do not contain toxic ingredients. I love my clean beauty routine and I love using and working for 100 PURE®!
